Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a formal process to establish the clinical and cost-effectiveness of new medical technologies for the NHS: does the technology work, for whom, at what cost, how does it compare with alternatives?
This webinar, delivered by experts from the Scottish Health Technologies Group (SHTG) Ed Clifton and University of Leeds, David Meads +, will provide an overview of the components HTA, including health economics, and their role in developing recommendations for adoption of health technologies in the NHS. In 2020, for the first time, SEHTA organised a major new international event; aimed at SME’s, Corporates, Academics & NHS Healthcare Providers, designed to take the programme of support to another level. We had 42 Sponsors and Exhibitors from all over the UK, Europe and Rest of the World and over 230 delegates take part. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we delivered the 2020 event virtually.
Every year we bring students and professionals from any institution together at the intersection of design, engineering, healthcare and entrepreneurship in a 48 hour sprint to help reimagine the future of healthcare. This year’s theme is Empowered, and we are focusing on tackling challenges associated with chronic disease and building solutions.
Chronic diseases are the leading cause of illness, disability and death in Australia. 9 in 10 deaths in 2018 were associated with chronic diseases (AIHW, 2020). Through MedHack, we aim to bring the community together to co-design solutions that help address the challenges associated with Australia’s most pressing health concerns.
