Efficiency is more than just driving profits it's crucial to patient experience and enabling operational development. It also serves as the first step toward unlocking transformational healthcare, which allows systems to extend operations and enhance patient experiences. To get there, leaders are required to look inward at their systems and identify operational silos holding back efficiency in order to knock those walls down.

Hospitals are currently faced with a challenge: There are not enough specialty care providers to meet the needs of patients, and it’s too difficult for patients to navigate to the right care for their needs. This webinar will describe several initiatives underway at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). First, UCSF’s VP of Digital Health Aaron Neinstein, MD, will explain the work UCSF has done to improve the experience of the patient seeking care, including how UCSF created significant efficiencies, time savings and superior patient experience by automating its referral intake process and creating self-service tools for its new digital patient front door. He’ll also discuss how UCSF is creating a continuous care delivery and engagement model in several complex care specialty service lines to increase its capacity, improve patient experience and enable remote care across a broader geographic area. 

Throughout the presentation he’ll be describing the tactics, methodologies and approaches to how UCSF has tackled these care delivery challenges using technology solutions. Learn best practices in how to become an agile, learning, data-driven organization that thinks “digital-first.” Participants will hear examples of how to form hypotheses and run experiments, how to implement processes to gather data and eliminate friction, how to measure experience in order to improve equity, and how to form cross-functional teams to improve patient experience.

In recent years, rare diseases, digital therapeutics, personalized medicine, cell and gene therapies, and other new therapeutic approaches have stretched our data and methodological capabilities. Furthermore, issues associated with these special populations and technologies have important implications for a range of healthcare decisions, from regulatory pathways to coverage, reimbursement, and shared clinical decision-making. ISPOR Europe 2021 will feature HEOR scientists and stakeholders who work on these key challenges and highlight innovative solutions, advances in HEOR, as well as examples of how partnerships and dialogue with other disciplines are contributing to address these issues.
