This scoping review synthesises current evidence on artificial intelligence (AI) governance in healthcare organisations, outlining key components of AI governance frameworks. Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, and Scopus (April 2024, updated March 2025) for AI governance frameworks in acute care.
Many healthcare organizations still lack effective AI governance systems, including oversight committees and accountability frameworks. For U.S. healthcare providers, the findings emphasize the growing need for stronger AI policies to improve patient safety, maintain compliance, and support responsible AI adoption.
