Medigy: Metaverse Hardware Objects and Sensors

Hardware is an important and necessary component of the metaverse. It is the sole source of human interaction in the metaverse. The hardware component of the metaverse is being improved by technological advancement. As of now, the most important component of the metaverse is a Head-Mounted Display (HMD). The following are critical factors for any metaverse hardware component:

• Resolution

• Field of View

• Latency

Many challenges and problems persist in the hardware that is essential to the metaverse. The most significant is latency.

There are currently four types of hardware that are essential components of the metaverse. They are detailed below.

• Displays for the Head (HMD)

• Handheld Input Device

• Hand-Free Input Device

• Motion Capture Device

Head-Mounted Displays (HMD) are the most fundamental and necessary input devices for experiencing the immersiveness of the metaverse. Occulus Rift, HTC Vive, and other modern HMDs can track users’ position and orientation. However, HMDs are currently bulky, expensive, and have a short battery life.

Haptic gloves are included with the Hand-Based Input Device. Meta recently unveiled a prototype of Haptic Gloves. Haptic gloves allow you to feel and hold objects. However, the texture of the object cannot be felt, and it is still in development.

Devices and sensors that track your eye, head, take voice input, and make you feel air, heat, and cold are examples of non-hand-based input devices. Razer introduced the HyperSense Suit, which allows you to feel sensations such as hitting, cutting, and so on while playing a game. In the next post, I’ll go over the Razer HyperSense Suit.

The Motion Input Device is used in a variety of ways to provide realism in the metaverse. These metaverse hardware essential components use the physical sense of space or gravity, body tracking, and treadmill to provide accurate motion information.
