Menopause goes high tech in 2023

Technology is enabling the development of novel health products, wearables, and apps that are enabling potential in the stigmatised area of female healthcare. Trackers, for instance, assist women in managing their health and health-related data to enable self-care, improve issue diagnosis, and offer a more sensitive and customised approach to therapy. Precedence Research projects that the worldwide femtech market would surpass $103 billion by 2030, expanding at a CAGR of 8.12% between 2022 and 2030. A substantial influx of financing is further fostering the expansion of this industry. There are currently a wide range of businesses promising to improve everything from menstrual health, fertility management, and menopause. Femtech since 2015, venture capital investment in this developing sector has increased by three times, to $600 million.

 There are several digital technologies that can support research in menopause:

  • Electronic health record systems: Electronic health records (EHRs) can be used to track the health of women during and after menopause, and to collect data on the effectiveness of different treatments.
  • Mobile apps: Mobile apps can be used to track symptoms and behaviors related to menopause, such as hot flashes and sleep patterns. They can also provide educational information and support to women during menopause.
