We have heard the feedback from the field loud and clear. Despite the successful virtual events AcademyHealth has hosted over the course of the pandemic, we know our audience misses the sense of community that comes with connecting, learning, and networking in-person. Vaccine uptake has risen sharply since the widespread implementation of vaccine mandates and, after constant monitoring this past year and a half, we are starting to feel cautiously optimistic about Spring 2022.

We are pleased to announce that we plan to hold the annual co-located Health Datapalooza (HDP) and National Health Policy Conference (NHPC) in-person April 4-5 in Arlington, VA. This will be a vaccine-required event. As always, protecting the health and safety of our attendees is our number one priority. To keep everyone as safe as possible, we will be instating mandatory health and safety protocols such as proof of vaccination, use of face masks and social distancing throughout the conference.

Novel Artificial Intelligence (AI) engines can potentially help to identify patterns and allow teams to uncover innovative strategies for specific cancers and individual patient populations. Today more than ever before, physician-scientists working with patients need real-time information aimed at creating an improved, value-based survivorship.

The first Miami Precision Medicine (MPM) international conference will bring together diverse experts in the field to share their knowledge and approaches in moving precision medicine towards routine practice. The course will examine the treatment landscape for various cancer types based on published and emerging data.  An interdisciplinary molecular tumor board case discussion will illustrate the role of genomic alterations in selecting targeted treatments as well as present relevant precision medicine clinical trials.

Patients and advocacy groups will have an opportunity to share their insight, learn about promising clinical trials and partner with physicians to develop new strategies tailored to their specific needs. We aim to identify barriers to precision medicine, to promote and facilitate awareness, education and equity in precision medicine cancer care.

The Yale Healthcare Conference is a student-led event that brings together professionals, scholars, and students to engage in informative discussion focused on identifying solutions to contemporary healthcare issues. For 18 years, we’ve brought together industry leaders, clinicians, and scholars to engage in discussions on the world’s foremost healthcare issues. This year we are thrilled to continue that strong tradition in person, while maintaining a virtual option for those who cannot make it to New Haven. It’s the 50th anniversary of medicare in 2022 and a good time to look back and plan for the future. Looking back is imperative, as we remind ourselves about the roots of medicare, the values and design principles that underpinned the establishment of medicare, and the heroic people who really made a difference in getting those foundations in place. It is equally in fact more important to plan for the future, as we recognize the challenges that existed prior to the pandemic, and the new ones that have emerged since. We need to confirm the values and objectives that guide us. Aligning with those, we need to determine what should stay the same and what we need to do differently over the next 50 years.

CHSPR’s long-standing conference promotes discussion between policy-makers, academics, providers, patients and national organizations on timely issues shaping health systems in Canada. The 2022 conference will bring together research and policy experts, students, patients, and care practitioners from across the health care system. All or almost all speakers will appear virtually, but the conference will support both in-person and virtual attendance for participants, subject to public health restrictions.
