We’re excited to announce our 2022 NPHW theme is “Public Health is Where You Are.” Having support and feeling included within our social communities can have a positive effect on our mental and physical health. This lets us give back to our communities’ health and make it stronger. While there are public health resources available where we live, some barriers may make it hard for us to get and use them. These could be physical, mental, financial, cultural and language barriers. Some communities have had a harder time than others. It is important to listen to the Black community and other communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community and people with disabilities. This way we can make sure public health is fair for all.

We have heard the feedback from the field loud and clear. Despite the successful virtual events AcademyHealth has hosted over the course of the pandemic, we know our audience misses the sense of community that comes with connecting, learning, and networking in-person. Vaccine uptake has risen sharply since the widespread implementation of vaccine mandates and, after constant monitoring this past year and a half, we are starting to feel cautiously optimistic about Spring 2022.

We are pleased to announce that we plan to hold the annual co-located Health Datapalooza (HDP) and National Health Policy Conference (NHPC) in-person April 4-5 in Arlington, VA. This will be a vaccine-required event. As always, protecting the health and safety of our attendees is our number one priority. To keep everyone as safe as possible, we will be instating mandatory health and safety protocols such as proof of vaccination, use of face masks and social distancing throughout the conference.

The first Miami Precision Medicine (MPM) international conference will bring together diverse experts in the field to share their knowledge and approaches in moving precision medicine towards routine practice. The course will examine the treatment landscape for various cancer types based on published and emerging data.  An interdisciplinary molecular tumor board case discussion will illustrate the role of genomic alterations in selecting targeted treatments as well as present relevant precision medicine clinical trials.

Patients and advocacy groups will have an opportunity to share their insight, learn about promising clinical trials and partner with physicians to develop new strategies tailored to their specific needs. We aim to identify barriers to precision medicine, to promote and facilitate awareness, education and equity in precision medicine cancer care.

For 18 years, we’ve brought together industry leaders, clinicians, and scholars to engage in discussions on the world’s foremost healthcare issues.
