The World Health Organization reported that noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) contribute to around 74% of deaths worldwide. A similar phenomenon can also be observed in Brunei Darussalam. One of the most cost-effective approaches to control the growing burden of NCDs is to reduce related modifiable risk factors.
A composite digital Health Index that combines biometric data, lifestyle factors, and self-reported health measures can help identify individuals at risk for noncommunicable diseases and support targeted prevention efforts at the population level. Early pilot results suggest most users fall into an “at-risk” category, highlighting the need for scalable tools to monitor overall health beyond traditional metrics like life expectancy.
