One of the most pressing challenges is an aging workforce. A significant portion of healthcare professionals, especially nurses and specialists, are approaching retirement age. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), by 2030, 9.5% of the civilian labor force is projected to be older than 65, while the nursing workforce needed is expected to rise by 28.4%.
Healthcare professionals are burning out at an alarming rate. A 2023 study found that nearly 50% of nurses plan to leave their jobs within three years due to stress, exhaustion and insufficient staffing.Strategic workforce planning is a proactive approach to aligning human resources with long-term business goals.
