By engaging regularly with users, proactive telecare may foster social connections with older adults and enable the detection of changes in needs. Telecare systems that promote active participation among older adults may also foster feelings of autonomy and self-management.
A proactive telecare system that encourages daily check-ins can be feasibly delivered to community-dwelling older adults and help them feel more autonomous and reassured about their health and safety, which is valuable as the U.S. population ages and seeks to live independently at home.
