The report outlines key factors that are putting pressure on hospitals as they care for patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The latest report from the American Hospital Association (AHA) shows that U.S. hospitals are facing growing financial strain as the cost of delivering care continues to rise faster than hospital prices and reimbursements. In 2025, total hospital expenses increased by 7.5%, driven by higher labor, drug, and supply costs while hospitals also treated more patients with complex health conditions.
