Medigy: Dental Implantation, Subperiosteal

A subperiosteal dental implant is a type of dental implant that sits on top of the jawbone, but under the gum tissue. The implant is anchored to the jawbone with small posts that protrude through the gum. This type of implant is typically used in cases where there is not enough healthy jawbone to support a traditional implant. The implantation process is done surgically and typically requires a healing period of several months before the final restoration (e.g. dental crown) can be placed.
