Medigy: Dental Articulators

A dental articulator is a device that simulates the movement of the jaw, allowing dentists and dental technicians to study and replicate the way a patient’s teeth come together, or occlude. It is used to create models of the patient’s upper and lower teeth and jaws, which can be mounted on the articulator to reproduce the patient’s specific jaw movements and bite.

Articulators can be classified into two main types:

Mechanical articulators: These are the most common type of articulator, and are based on a hinge mechanism that allows for movement in the sagittal plane.

Electromechanical articulators: These are more advanced type of articulator that can simulate more complex jaw movements and bite patterns, and are often used in more complex cases.

Dental articulators are used in the fabrication of dental prostheses such as bridges, dentures and splints, and also in orthodontics to help in the diagnosis, treatment planning and fabrication of orthodontic appliances.
