Standard Occupational Classification (SOC): Wind Turbine Service Technicians

Wind turbine service technicians are not typically considered to be part of the healthcare field. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing wind turbines, which are large machines that generate electricity from the wind. They may work on the blades, gearboxes, generators, and other mechanical and electrical components of the turbines, and may also be responsible for monitoring and diagnosing issues with the turbines using computer systems. Wind turbine service technicians may work at wind farms or other renewable energy sites and may be required to climb to great heights to access the turbines. Safety training is also important. They may work in various weather conditions and in remote locations. They typically work full-time and may be required to work evenings and weekends.
