Study: Telemedicine underused in allergy/immunology despite acceptance

Sixty-three percent of pediatric allergy/immunology patients surveyed said they were equally satisfied with care delivered via telemedicine and in person, and 37% were more satisfied with telemedicine, but only 6.1% of allergists and immunologists use telemedicine for patient care, according to a study presented at the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology's annual meeting. David Lang, who chairs the Cleveland Clinic's allergy and immunology department, said telemedicine is an important component in integrated care that can improve affordability and access.
